On February 1, 1949, William L. Hochschild, Jr. founded Northern Refrigeration and Engineering Company. A mechanical engineering graduate of the University of Illinois, Hochschild had previously worked for Ilg Electric Ventilation Company, now a division of Carrier/United Technologies.
Our first client was the Carlson Building in Evanston. Today, more than 66 years later, the Carlson Building is still a customer.
While we are proud of this fact, we are not surprised. At Northern Weathermakers HVAC, Inc., customer service is the cornerstone of our business. Management Team

Mike Lee
President
Michael Lee joined Northern Weathermakers HVAC Inc. in 1987. Throughout his 28 year career with Northern, Mike has been responsible for a number of operational roles, including; Service Division Manager, VP of Service and VP of Construction and Building Automation.
Mike was appointed President of Northern Weathermakers HVAC Inc. and its subsidiary, N-Control Inc., in January 2009. Mike is responsible for combining the strength and resources of all Northern Weathermakers businesses and divisions and leading a charge into all technology and energy management areas associated with HVAC.

Cliff Kalash
Construction Manager
Cliff Kalash is an Air Force Veteran who has been in the HVAC industry since 1979. Cliff joined Northern Weathermakers HVAC Inc in 2005. Cliff is involved in many aspects of the company. Cliff is responsible for putting together CAD designing, estimating, project management and engineering. He is currently the Construction Manager for Northern Weathermakers HVAC Inc..

Ariel Rodriguez
Building Automation Manager
Ariel Rodriguez is responsible for assisting all engineers in the design of all automation projects, and oversees the installation and commissioning of all automation projects. As Automation Manager he interacts with clients to address their specific needs and provide them with the latest in building automation technology.
